Our Design Offices
FEH Design’s professional interior designers create cohesive and integrated designs. Our designers work closely with architects, engineers, consultants, and project owners, from the start to the finish, to create inspiring, sustainable environments that reflect your community or business culture. We thrive on the energy of the variety of projects and clients that we serve. Every project is an opportunity to learn more about an organization, a process, or a community… and each design is an opportunity to test ideas, expand our thinking, and positively impact that organization, process, or community.

FEH Design's work is carried out for YOU.
They successfully captured an aesthetic that reflects the diversity of the audiences we serve, making our refreshed space feel uniquely ours. In 1898, Andrew H. Foss, a 22-year-old immigrant began designing and building railroad depots throughout southeastern Minnesota. From that start, FEH Design has grown into one of the region’s longest-operating architecture firms. The two-year-long project started with the complete demolition of the interior of the unit’s Operations Building, which allowed designers and builders to start from scratch.
Our people-centered design approach combines architecture and psychology to develop spaces that are functional and efficient and positively impact all end users. We believe that creating a ‘common thread’ or palette of materials that runs throughout your project is crucial to bringing spaces to life and delivering an exceptional user experience. Our designers work closely with local vendors and dealers to become experts in building finishes, furniture solutions, manufacturers, methods, and trends within the industry. Our Wisconsin office is expanding its architectural muscle and has designed unique corporate, educational… and even zoo projects. FEH Design was so good to work with on an update of our offices at Oakridge Neighborhood Services - very responsive and professional throughout the process.
Our comprehensive services include conceptual and schematic design, design development and construction documentation, bidding and/or negotiating and construction contract administration. Every member brings unique talents to the table, and together we are creating vibrant communities through collaborative design. A collaborative design firm that creates vibrant communities through architecture, structural engineering, and interior design. The Midwest is our home as our offices are located in Sioux City, Des Moines, and Dubuque, Iowa, and Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

We are a dynamic group of individuals who blend together to create a team that works seamlessly for our clients and their goals. Plaques were also presented to business from the area who also contributed to the project. The $12 million dollar, 31,000 sq ft project called for the modernization of the 70-year-old building that was last remodeled in 2002 when the unit converted from a fighter unit to an air refueling wing. From fun, playful images to inspirational words, our spirit graphics enhance schools. Bringing your brand into the built environment is a great way to promote a culture of togetherness. Whether it’s large wall graphics or framed art, companies benefit when employees are immersed in the culture of their brand.
Services
This means designing in such a way that anyone, regardless of age, gender, or ability, can enjoy and use the space. Inclusive design puts people first and creates spaces that inspire diversity. Our designers are well versed in requirements of ADA compliance, and go a step beyond that, by taking into account the unique challenges of each project to create spaces that bring communities together. It is our passion to create an environment that is not only functional but aesthetically pleasing.
By asking the right questions, our design team is able to gather valuable information about your goals. We can create renderings and animations to help you visualize your new space. Our eldest office, FEH Sioux City has been designing in Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota since the late 1950s. We renovated a downtown nightclub into our office and our project experience is as eclectic as our music choices. We connect, ask questions, listen, learn, ask more questions, gather input, evaluate, advise, and ask even more questions. We improve upon each iteration until one meets all the goals and fits the needs of today and tomorrow.
FEH has created an environment that allows professionals to grow fully and quickly, become leaders in the firm, and be promoted for their hard work. Our people have been and continue to be our differentiator, it’s who we are and what we do. Much like the color purple, we embody the balance of red’s stimulation and blue’s calm.
In 1979, FEH continued to establish our Iowa roots by adding a Des Moines location. We dig our East Village location, a former fish market, and love to host office shindigs on our front patio.
Spaces that encourage interaction with the built environment and provide flexible furnishings are used more frequently. Patrons spend more time in spaces that are comfortable and provide flexibility. This week the Siouxland Construction Alliance in Sioux City, Iowa presented awards to the Iowa Air National Guard along with area business who contributed to the Air Guard’s recently completed Operations Building project.
